Sports Partnership Physical Activity Leaders Workshops

Over 8 weeks commencing on Thursday 22nd February from 10 am to 3 pm in the Southill Area Centre.

These PALs Workshops are very useful to anyone involved in or interested in organising and leading physical activity for older adults such as:

  • activity organisers of Active Retirement Groups or members who are willing to lead activities
  • older volunteers working with older people in day centres etc
  • activity leaders in local groups or organisations (e.g. local ICA Guild, Older People’s Groups).

Participants do not need to have any background or formal experience in leading physical activities.  There is no cost to participants but they must be prepared to attend all of the workshops and to lead members of their own groups or communities. Ideally, two or three members of each group should attend the same workshops so that they can support each other in the leading of activities afterward.  Each workshop should have a minimum of 12 participants and a maximum of 24.

Each PALs Workshop

  • is a mix of theory and practical ideas
  • is delivered by Go for Life Trainers
  • lasts approximately 5 hours e.g. 10 am to 3 pm with half hour break for lunch
  • is informal, sociable and fun
  • has a practical element
